Making Poo and Examining Cells!
Science Faculty News
Year 7 students had a brilliant time this week examining cells under the microscope. They stained onion skin with iodine and recorded what they saw.

Year 8 students had a fantastic time recreating the digestive system process’s and creating their own poo in the science labs!
The students recreated each step in the digestive process starting with mimicking ‘chewing’ the food by mashing the food up, adding the digestive enzymes and churning up the food in a makeshift stomach! Students even used tights to replicate the small intestine which allows the nutrients to be absorbed into the blood. The best grossest bit was of course squeezing the Poo out at the end! It was great fun!

Year 9 Students have been investigating osmosis in the potato cell with hypotonic and hypertonic solutions!
We also have some fantastic clubs running in science at the moment: Year 9: Merlin’s After school Club runs every week! Year 7 & 8 Week A After School Club!
