AQA GCSE Art & Design (Fine Art)

Course Content - What will you be studying?

GCSE Art & Design (Fine Art) is aimed at learners who enjoy being creative, making art, and communicating ideas.

Students will be introduced to a variety of learning experiences, which encourage the development of skills through the use of a range of media, processes, techniques and technologies relevant to chosen themes in Fine Art. They will be encouraged to show their knowledge, understanding and skills in the development of personal work informed by first-hand experiences and appropriate secondary sources. As part of the course students will be encouraged to progressively develop their own strengths and interests in the subject and, increasingly, follow their own lines of inquiry. Being able to justify and talk about their work and others is really important so students will build on the skills gained in KS3 on how to research, analyse and interpret images and texts as well as communicate their opinions.

Students will be encouraged to work with a range of 2D and 3D specialisms, these include. Drawing, Painting, Printmaking, Digital work and Ceramics.

The externally set assignment provides learners the opportunity to demonstrate, through an extended creative response, their ability to draw together different areas of knowledge, skills and/or understanding in response to their selected starting point.
