Ethics/RE - Year 9 Choices

Course content - What will you be studying?

In an era of globalisation and an increasingly interdependent world, the need to study Religion, Philosophy and Ethics is more important than ever before. You will be exploring the meaning and purpose of life; beliefs; the self and the nature of reality; issues of right and wrong; what it means to be human; and moral dilemmas such as drugs and politics. The course enables you to develop your spiritual, moral, social and cultural awareness which contributes to your personal development and well being. This plays a significant role in promoting community cohesion through learning mutual respect and tolerance in a diverse society. You will have the ability to discuss and learn about crucial issues that impact on society today.

Assessment

During the course students will be assessed regularly to help students and staff monitor progress made. Students will be encouraged to to use their DIRT time to reflect and improve their assessments.

Enrichment opportunities (Extra curricular clubs)

We hope to have a variety of speakers and trips, and will be setting up a Philosophy club to enable students to explore this area further outside of the classroom.
