Hill forts and dungeon’s!

Year 5 revisit Anglo Saxon times

The year 5’s donned their historical boots and set off to uncover what life was like for Anglo Saxons in England.

We headed for Lydford, home of the Anglo Saxon frontier. During the day the children had a feast of activities to build on their prior knowledge of Anglo Saxon life.

We researched family timelines back to the ‘Dark ages’, we reenacted a court scene and sent trouble makers to the dungeon, we explored a rebuilt Anglo Saxon church and learnt about St Petroc and as a huge finale, we explored why hill forts were so important to the Anglo Saxon way of life (by playing a Dark ages capture the flag).

A fantastic time was had by all and the children represented the school in the best way imaginable.
