Royal Logistics Corps STEM Day with Year 9

During the week of 7-11 March 2022 Plymouth Army Careers hosted engagement teams from the Royal Signals and Royal Logistic Corps. We were privileged to have the Royal Logistics Corps in with our Year 9 students.

The Royal Logistic Corps are the backbone of the Army. Wherever the Army go, the RLC are supporting all levels of activity from bomb disposal to marine engineering and cheffing. The team presented their own stories and routes into their trades and gave a summary of the roles and entry requirements for each job in the RLC.

Students then took part in two STEM based activities. The sightless obstacle course tested students’ communication skills, trust, teamwork, leadership and listening skills. The second activity challenged students to navigate an obstacle course with mini fork-lift trucks. This tested their strategic thinking, teamwork and driving skills.

It was a fantastic day and got year 9 thinking about possible careers and developing the skills that would help them to be successful. Big thanks to our local Army Careers office for organising this.
